Pelvic floor physiotherapy refers to the rehabilitation of muscles which are involved in sexual function, bowel/bladder function and the stability of the pelvis.
A Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist is specialized in the assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles. This includes evaluating bladder and bowel habits, sexual dysfunction and pain and postural and muscular pelvic retraining.
Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy is first-line in the defense against incontinence and pelvic pain. Pelvic health can be impacted by abdominal/pelvic surgeries, traumatic injuries, pregnancy, menopause transition, muscle strain, and pelvic/low back postural issues.
